Northern Lakes rolls to win in season opener

BREEZY POINT - Alec Fitch scored four goals and Jacob Travis tallied one goal and four assists to get the Northern Lakes Lightning off to a quick start in an 8-1 season-opening victory over Bagley/Fosston at Breezy Point.

The Lightning started off with a bang in the non-conference matchup with five first-period goals. After a scoreless second period, Northern Lakes outscored Bagley-Fosston 3-0 in the third period. The Lightning totalled 52 shots on goal. Joey Bergquist had 15 saves on 16 shots.

Little Falls 6, Hibbing 1

HIBBING - Joey Hanowski scored four goals against Hibbing/Chisholm to lead the Little Falls Flyers to a 6-1 victory over the Bluejackets in a non-conference season-opener for both teams on Friday.

Adam Dougherty had one goal and two assists and Mike Anez finished with three assists.

The Flyers were outshot 34-33 but Michael Stumpf had a big night in goal for Little Falls with 33 saves.
