Christmas in the Park will be all day Sunday, starting at 1 p.m., in Gregory Park in Brainerd, featuring a gingerbread house contest display, carolers in the Gregory Park Bandstand, holiday crafters selling crafts, Boy Scouts selling wreaths and garland, face painters, Santa and a parade and fireworks after the parade.
Fish house parade
Downtown Aitkin will be the site of the World Famous Fish House Parade on Friday.
Events will take place throughout the day, including visits from Santa Claus, a pingpong ball shoot-out, a chili cook-off, holiday craft show, a variety of foods and the parade filled with fish houses and other winter toys.
Country pop fans will gather this weekend at Grand Casino Mille Lacs for the Sawyer Brown appearances, at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the casino's convention center.
Tickets are $17 and $24 at the gate.
With the Thanksgiving holiday releases already in release, the weekend box office sleeper may be "Extreme Ops," featuring a young, hip cast who will turn on audiences with death defying demonstrations in several extreme sports against the backdrop of a thriller-action adventure story.
Snowboarding, sky diving, white water rafting, off-road motorcycles and other sports will get a moment or two on the screen. It opens Friday in area theaters.
Christmas in the Mansions will take place 1 to 6 p.m. daily Friday-Dec. 8 in Little Falls.
Visitors may tour two neighboring 1898 residences of Charles Weyerhaeuser and Richard Drew Musser within the Linden Hill Conference and Retreat Center. All floors will be decorated for the holiday season, with family heirlooms and uniquely decorated Christmas trees.
Cost is $10 per person.
Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis will be the site of the 11th annual TCF Holidazzle Parades starting Friday and running each Wednesday-Sunday through Dec. 29, excluding Christmas Day.
TCF Holidazzle Parades travel Nicollet Mall, from 12th to Fourth Street, and feature dazzling lights, festive floats, marching bands, celebrity grand marshals and nearly 250 costumed characters from popular children's stories.
Each parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 30 minutes.
