Black Friday shoppers: dress warm

Posted: Friday, November 26, 2010

It's expected to be a chilly morning for Black Friday shoppers - temperatures with the wind chill are predicted to be 10 to 20 below zero, according to the forecast.

Temperatures during the day Friday are expected to rise a little, with a low of 16 to a high of 21 and west winds of 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday will warm up a bit, with temperatures of 23 to 28 with west winds of 5 to 10 mph that will become southwest in the afternoon. Temperatures Saturday night will be 15 to 20 degrees and Sunday will be mostly cloudy with temps of 32 to 37 degrees.

Ed Flenz, forecaster with the National Weather Service, Duluth, said a cold front after a winter storm is typical. Flenz said Crow Wing County received 1 to 3 inches of snow - one weather spotter reported 1.8 inches of snow three miles north of Brainerd.

Flenz said the winter storm was just moving out of the Lake Superior area Thursday night.
