BAXTER -- Baxter police are seeking information about a man that attempted to lure a 13-year-old boy into his vehicle Friday.

Baxter Police Capt. Dale Walz today said the 13-year-old and a 12-year-old girl got off the school bus about 4 p.m. in a north Baxter neighborhood when a man in a red-colored rusty Chevrolet Suburban drove up to them and twice told the 13-year-old boy to get into his vehicle and show him the way to town. After the boy twice told the man no, the boy said the man became angry, pounded on the steering wheel and drove away, Walz said.

Walz said it wasn't certain what the man's intentions were but he wanted to let Baxter parents know about the incident.

"We'll take it serious until proven otherwise," said Walz.

The man in the Chevrolet Suburban was described as 30-40 years old with dark hair, a mustache with some gray.

Anyone with information concerning the man should call Walz at the Baxter Police Department at (218) 855-5090.
