DEER RIVER -- One brother is dead and another hospitalized after a fight between the two broke out early Saturday at a deer camp near Deer River.
It is unclear what led to the fight between brothers Dennis Anderson, 49, Avon, and Robert Anderson, 45, St. Cloud, Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said today. Investigators believe alcohol had been consumed before the altercation.
During the altercation, which was reported to the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 3:04 a.m., Robert Anderson suffered a head injury. While driving to the Deer River HealthCare Center, Robert Anderson allegedly stabbed Dennis Anderson with a knife.
Dennis Anderson was pronounced dead at the Deer River HealthCare Center. Robert Anderson was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, where today he was reported in satisfactory condition.
Dennis Anderson's wife was the only other person at the deer camp, Fisher said.
No criminal charges have been filed. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the investigation. Fisher said he expects preliminary autopsy results later this week.
