(Photo) Brainerd High School Student Council members Lori Hamilton, Megan Gruhl, Dana Post, Danae Blanck and Edward Northway stack 1,250 pounds on food gathered in a two-week food drive for delivery to the Salvation Army food shelf.

30 years ago (1979)

Scott LeDoux, the "Fighting Frenchman" from Crosby, fought his heart out against Mike Weaver yesterday, but his courage couldn't overcome Weaver's sharp jabs. LeDoux lost a unanimous decision in the highest grossing fight in Minnesota history - $155,000.

40 years ago (1969)

60 years ago (1949)

80 years ago (1929)

The hill at Horseshoe Lake, about four miles north of Brainerd on the Lum Park road, has been selected as an ideal site for a ski jump. Jake Preston, local ski jump enthusiast, says that jumps of 100 to 150 feet will possible when the ski jump is completed.

100 years ago (1909)

Edward Dorsey, of Pillager, returned home today after being hospitalized for a week from a peculiar accident. He was returning to his seat in school, having sharpened his pencil. A girl tripped him and the pencil stuck in his leg, requiring surgery to remove.
