Brainerd Blue junior varsity advances

Brainerd Blue defeated Sauk Rapids Green 3-0, St. Cloud Apollo 3-0 and St. Cloud Tech 3-1 on Nov. 15 to advance to the state junior varsity tournament Dec. 7 at Sundance Bowl in Dayton.

Jared Magstadt and Derek Maier led the Warriors against Sauk Rapids Green with 83.3- and 66.7-percent fills.

Steve Warta, Maier and Samantha Holmes led Brainerd against Apollo with 100-, 87.5- and 83.3-percent fills.

Maier, Holmes and Greg Shervey led Brainerd against Tech with 80-, 75- and 75-percent fills.

Seventeen teams, including Brainerd Blue, have already qualified for state.

The Brainerd Silver junior varsity Team competed in the Minnesota qualifying tournament Sunday at AMF Southtown Bowl in Bloomington. Thirty-six teams competed for seven additional state tournament spots.
