Highway 10/210 intersection in Staples now a four-way stop
STAPLES - A temporary four-way stop is being added at the intersection of Highway 210 and the new Highway 10 alignment in Staples until a traffic signal is installed in December, the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Baxter reported.

Fire destroys apartment building
An old church in northeast Brainerd that was converted into an apartment building was lost to a fire Thursday which also sent a Brainerd man to the hospital.

Open Forum: Tick, tock, your taxes are going up
By the time you finish reading this, property taxes statewide will have increased by another $1,000. If you are a slow reader - by as much as $2,000. You heard right - since the end of 2002, Minnesota property taxes have increased $1 thousand a minute, and are projected to increase by another $549 million next year. This brings us to a grand total of $2.7 billion - a 60 percent increase under the leadership of a governor who has No New Taxes as his mantra.
