Charter Communications literally has had to jump through hoops to add KSTC-TV and its remaining lineup of Timberwolves basketball games.
After securing retransmission, transport and notification agreements, as well as a channel position arrangement, subscribers of Charter will be able to view an additional 29 Timberwolves games beginning Dec. 1 on Channel 16.
Charter subscribers have missed six Wolves games because Charter was unable to carry KSTC from the beginning of the season.
"I appreciate KSTC for bringing Minnesota sports programs to the market and giving us the opportunity to provide this coverage to our customers," said Mike Hill, government affairs and public relations manager for Charter. "The opportunity to carry KSTC in the Brainerd market is our pleasure.
"We're sorry for any delay," Hill added from his office in Altoona, Wis. "I don't know if anything more could have been done to speed up this process. It was a little difficult."
The addition of KSTC means the first Wolves games that Charter subscribers can watch are Dec. 3 at Phoenix and Dec. 4 at the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Wolves' TV schedule began Nov. 3 against the New York Knicks. That game was one of 35 that will be shown on Fox Sports Net, which has been available on Charter.
The KSTC schedule tipped off Nov. 6 against the New Orleans Hornets. That was one of 35 Wolves games for which KSTC had secured the rights.
KSTC's addition means Charter will now also televise five Minnesota State High School League state tournaments from 2005 through 2015.
Live coverage of the girls' and boys' state hockey tournaments, the girls' and boys' state basketball tournaments and the Prep Bowl championship football games will be shown by KSTC.
Hill said the addition of KSTC does not mean a fee increase will have to be passed on to Charter subscribers.
"All cost adjustments are due to overall expenses, not just programming," he said.
KSTC is an independent station in St. Paul, owned and operated by Hubbard Broadcasting.
