Baxter police radar gains grant dollars

Posted: Wednesday, November 24, 2004

BAXTER -- CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco announced a $2,000 Community Partnership Grant for Baxter.

The $2,000 grant is designed to help the city purchase a police radar speed board. Created in 2003, the grant program provides grants to communities for significant and planned projects that are initiated or sanctioned by a community, are already in the planning stages and have broad public support. Grant funds are used to help influence local funds and may not exceed 50 percent of the project cost.

Communities are eligible to apply each year, but priority is given to those who have not previously received funding. Awards are made monthly. In the last round of grants for 2004, five communities will receive a combined $10,480 for the purchase of safety equipment.
