A Safe and Sober campaign Wednesday focusing on seat belt compliance was a success, the State Patrol said.
A team of troopers stopped 117 motorists for moving violations, including 52 people cited for failing to wear their seat belts. Also, 30 drivers were cited for speeding. Three people were taken into custody for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation or for outstanding warrants.
"The Safe and Sober program allowed us to have more squads on our roadways during Thanksgiving holiday travel," State Patrol Lt. Dave ZumBerg said in a news release.
Safe and Sober is a statewide and national traffic safety campaign funded by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
