The Central Lakes College Raiders found themselves behind 38-33 to Anoka-Ramsey at halftime in Saturday's Central Lakes Classic.
That changed quickly in the second half as the Raiders blew up for a 46-29 second half rolling to a 79-67 victory.
Marcus Ayala posted 20 points with Erik Peeters' 15, Nick Grewe's 14 and Ahmed Farah's 12 points following closely behind.
Quincy Bethea Jr. led Anoka-Ramsey with 25 points.
After going 3-of-15 from 3-point in the first half, the Raiders committed to their style of basketball resulting in a 43-30 advantage on the boards.
"Our biggest effort came from Nick Grewe and Eric Peters, who did a lot of little things that were big for us at the post position," said Raider coach Jim Russell. "We played their style in the first half, but got back to our style in the second half. We got caught up shooting 3's in the first half. In the second half, we pounded the ball into the post. You also get more free throws when you are attacking the basket."
The Raiders shot 92 percent (24-26) from the line with Ayala going 10-for-10. Grewe finished with six rebounds and Peeters added four to lead the Raiders on the boards.
