BAXTER - Jean Berg, age 80, resident of Baxter, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean was born June 24, 1929, in Browerville to James and Margaret (Bergmann) Halloran. She married Robert Berg on Nov. 28, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church of which she was a member. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Alderman's True Value Hardware Store in Brainerd.
Jean was a life-time bowler and an active member of the Brainerd Women's Bowling Association. Over the years, Jean enjoyed singing in her church choir, yard work and watching her children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. Jean was a loving wife, mom and grandma.
She is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law Pam and Tim Caughey, son Tom; two grandchildren Jake and Jackie Caughey; brother Jim (Lindee) Halloran; sister Betty Alderman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, brother Bob and grandson Nicholas Caughey.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Reverend Mark Kleckner officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation times are Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Nelson Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred.
