The victim, James Arvid Gravdahl, lost control of his pick-up, went into the ditch and collided with trees, Pequot Lakes Police Chief Mark Forsberg said Monday. Ice on the roadway was a contributing factor in the crash, Forsberg said.
Gravdahl was the only person in the vehicle, Forsberg said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Forsberg said it was undetermined if Gravdahl was wearing a seat belt and that the accident is still under investigation, pending results from the Crow Wing County Coroner's Office.
Assisting the Pequot Lakes Police Department were the Breezy Point and Nisswa police departments, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department, the State Patrol, the Pequot Lakes Fire Department, North Ambulance and the Northern Crow Wing County First Responders.
