Elle Adams' break-away goal in the second period was the lone offensive bright spot for Brainerd/Little Falls Flyers Warriors in Friday's 5-1 non-conference loss to the Crookston Pirates.
The Flying Warriors just finished killing a two-player advantage when Adams broke free with the puck in the defensive zone and shot the puck past Pirate goalie Jennifer Meyer.
Lack of goals has been a problem for the 0-3 Flying Warriors. They have three in three games. Friday, however, they attempted 22 shots.
Lexy Wangen got things going for the Pirates with 5:03 left in the first period. Wangen tallied another goal for Crookston less than two minutes later past B/LF goalie Nhi Dinh.
"The first two goal I shot to the top shelf and the girls just took it from there," said Wangen. "We lost a lot of players so this year we had to regroup. We had to work mainly on our talking and our passing."
Nicole Godbout (10) moved the puck up the ice in the Brainerd/Little Falls Flying Warriors girls' hockey game against the Crookston Pirates Friday at Brainerd Area Civic Center.

Crookston came together offensively after a slow start in the first period. Goals by Ashley Wenner and Kelly Biermaier lifted the Pirates to a 4-0 advantage.
The Flying Warriors played well defensively in front of Dinh for most of the first period, and regrouped for a solid third period. Brainerd killed off three penalties.
