Brainerd Warrior sophomore diver Jenny Klabo finished about as well as could be expected considering it was her first Class 2A state meet.
Klabo placed 28th out of 32 competitors with 113.75 points after five dives Monday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. She missed the cut for the second round and a possible trip to the semifinals.
"It was just an experience to come to state," Klabo said. "I didn't expect to come. I didn't expect to do all that good."
Warriors diving coach Mary Streiff thought Klabo handled the experience of diving in a big venue as well as a sophomore could.
"I thought Jenny did a good job with the initial shock that this is the University of Minnesota and the Aquatics Center," Streiff said. "Jenny got her game face on and just did her job."
Streiff said Klabo didn't dive as well she had during the regular season and section meet but gained valuable state experience.

Class 2A state meet
University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, Minneapolis
Monday's highlight: Brainerd's Jenny Klabo finished 28th in the diving competition.
Tuesday's schedule: Swimming prelims, 6 p.m.
Wednesday's schedule: Swimming and diving finals, 6 p.m.
"It was really good for her to see what's out there in the state," Streiff said. "We get to see some of these girls in our True Team section meet and in our conference. Other than that we don't get to see Twin Cities divers much.
"Jenny is up and coming. As a sophomore she's where we want her to be. She got her feet wet."
Klabo hopes the experience helps her earn another trip to state next fall.
"It should help me next year, being used to the place, seeing what the other divers are doing," Klabo said. "I just like knowing where I should be at."
