WALKER -- Two Cass Lake residents were charged in Cass County District Court on felony charges in connection with the Aug. 15 death of Joseph Jake Vos.
Vos, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.248 percent, apparently was lying on Fox Creek Road by Cass Lake when he was run over by a vehicle and killed.
Carol Annette Roy, 41, is accused of driving the car that killed Vos.
She told officers she came over a slight crest in the road and did not have time to avoid striking the person lying on the roadway, according to the complaint filed against her. She reportedly told officers she was afraid and encouraged by those in her car to leave the scene.
She faces felony charges of failure to stop for accident with person and to notify police of personal injury.
Shane Raymond Roy, 22, who, along with two other people, was in the car at the time of the accident called Cass County Sheriff's Department on his cell phone following the accident to report he had driven past a body in the road.
He faces one felony charge of aiding an offender and one misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process or arrest.
