Firefighters reported a pickup truck lost the trailer it was pulling as it passed the ICO Station on NE Washington Street. It rolled into the service station, struck a gas pump, knocked it off its base and started a fire. The driver put it out before officials arrived.

The Brainerd High School choir has been invited to travel to Lincolnshire, England, next June to perform in the international "Boston Festival," choir director Tom Rossin told the school board. If accepted, it will be the second overseas performance by the choir.

(Photo) Ribbon cutting ceremonies officially opened the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Brainerd. On hand were Wayne Huso, chamber president, Leonard Watland, owner, and Col. Jim Sanders, nephew of Col. Harlan Sanders, company founder.

The top-sized deer and bear entered in the Vogue Supper Club contest will be served mulligan-stew style to an expected crowd of 1,000 said Earl Mondor, owner. The free dinner should top the 855 served in 1948. $500 in prizes will be awarded to winners.

Three more defendants in liquor cases were remanded to district court this morning, bringing the total to 18 in the past 24 hours. Those pleading not guilty will be tried in Duluth. Sheriff Claus Theorin is attempting to rid the county of liquor.

The Dispatch learns that the news item appearing yesterday concerning several social events given in honor of Bert McCauley never did take place. It was the Dispatch informant's idea of fun, but he would be indignant if treated in like manner.
