Perhaps Daschle, Gephardt, and other top Democrats were influenced by big money; perhaps the Anthrax spores that were mailed to only Democrats scared them off. I no longer wish to know! The death of the Wellstone Party may not have been a pure accident, and yet, I hope that it was.
The fact that the exit polling in the presidential part of 2000 Florida election was quite different than the vote count no longer seems to be an accident. Nor does the difference between the polling numbers and the electronic vote numbers of the 2002 key election figures seem to be accidental. And why was the exit polling muzzled?
There is something here that has taken the muzzles off from many reporters, for the first time in 30 years.
Let us hope that our media, centrally owned by big money, finds that they can no longer dance solely to the tunes played by the oil, the defense, the chemical, and the financial Industries. If they do, it will ease the return of America, to the belief in, and use of, the principles of human rights ,in domestic and foreign policies.
Let us hope that we have seen our darkest days for human rights. This will however be true, only if the American media responds. And if they should not, the question remains: How dark can it get?
