WALKER -- The Cass County Board will hold a special meeting on economic development issues from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pine River Community Resource Center, two blocks east of Highway 371 in Pine River.
Administrator Robert Yochum will review the county's past involvement in economic development. Dave Johnson, president of Cass County Economic Development Corp., will discuss that organization's programs.
Scott Arneson will present Aitkin County's approach to economic development.
Bob Olson will explain Itasca County's approach to economic development.
Vicki White will outline the Leech Lake Band's economic development program.
Gail Leverson will discuss economic development programs available through Region 5.
The Cass County Board has moved the first meeting in December from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5. The regular meeting will open at 2 p.m. at the courthouse meeting room in Walker. The truth in taxation public hearing on the 2003 proposed budget will begin at 6 p.m. that day.
The second regular meeting of the month will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 17 in the courthouse meeting room in Walker.
In January, the first meeting of the month will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 at Sylvan Township Hall in southern Cass County.
The board has set the annual county strategic planning retreat for Jan. 23 and 24 at Deep Portage Conservation Reserve east of Hackensack. Times will be announced later.
The public is welcome to attend all county board meetings.
