Posted: Thursday, November 19, 2009

The Just For Kix Holiday Show will have three performances Saturday at the Brainerd High School gymnasium.

Show times are 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for ages 5 and under.

The holiday show is a fundraiser for the Brainerd Warrior dance team. All classes from the dance studios will perform, including tap, ballet, hip-hop, ballet and kick classes.

Fathers and daughters recently rehearsed for the Just For Kix father-daughter dance that will be performed to "Will The Real Santa Clause Stand Up" in three Just for Kix holiday shows Saturday at Brainerd High School.

Featured in all three shows will be a jazz production number, a father-daughter dance titled "Will The Real Santa Clause Stand Up," the Tap Troupe performing "Oh You Beautiful Doll Medley" and the advanced hip-hop classes performing "Freak-A-Lator."

The dance team members will be guest performers in all three shows. The team will do the traditional Rockette Christmas kick routine, their new jazz routine to "Eleanor Rigby" and their new kick routine to "Little Black Spiders."

Morrison County Historical Society to host holiday book release party

LITTLE FALLS - Cold baked beans on white bread, a roasted marshmallow between two Doritos, apple slices with salt, French fries dipped in a chocolate shake.

These are a few of the impromptu concoctions people eat when they are in a hurry or feeling creative. The Morrison County Historical Society collected these sorts of concoctions from visitors at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum and has recently published them in book under the title, "You Eat That?!? The Anti-Recipe Recipe Book."

Alice Balsley (left), Ava Juranek and Lauren Kline recently rehearsed for the upcoming Just For Kix Holiday Show scheduled Saturday at Brainerd High School. Shows are scheduled at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

To celebrate the book's publication, MCHS has scheduled a holiday book release party from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Weyerhaeuser Museum in Little Falls. Copies of "You Eat That?!?" will be available for sale that day at the museum or the book may be purchased online from the Historical Society's Caf Press store. The book has been produced with two distinct covers - one is red and green with stripes, the other designed to be reminiscent of chocolate and strawberries.

Anti-recipes from "You Eat That?!?" will be served during the party. There is no admission to the event, but reservations are requested by Dec. 3. The public is welcome to attend. Call (320) 632-4007 to make reservations.
