Florence C. Gray, 89, Brainerd, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
She was born April 13, 1913, in Fairmont to Ernest N. and Grace (Martin) Chute. She married Edwin A. Gray on June 20, 1942, in Fairmont. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1939 as a commercial teacher and taught in Howard Lake and Tracy before coming to Brainerd in 1945. She did substitute and night school teaching, was a Laubauch tutor and was a member of the AAUW. She belonged to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brainerd, where she was a substitute organist and Sunday school teacher. She was a Gray Lady at St. Joseph's Medical Center for 35 years and had more than 2,000 hours as a volunteer visitor at the local nursing home.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dr. Mark Gray, Brainerd, Loren Gray, Fort Atkinson, Wis., and Bruce Gray, Clovis, N.M.; a daughter, Marian Sundquist, Prescott, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her brother, Newton Chute, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brainerd with Father Glenn Derby officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brainerd. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Columbarium Fund or Bethany Good Samaritan Village.
Friends may call an hour before services Saturday at the church.
