The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers announced Tuesday the hiring of pitching coach Dan Lipari from Youngstown State University.
The addition of Lipari will help the franchise build on a successful 2009 season, in which the Lunkers earned the best record of any Northwoods League team in the lakes area since 2002.
"Experience is crucial when building a coaching staff and Dan has it," Lunkers field manager Ryan Levendoski said. "Dan has proven to be an excellent developer of young talent and we couldn't be happier to have him with the Lunkers in 2010."

Prior to becoming an assistant pitching coach at Youngstown State University, Lipari was a three-year letterwinner at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, from 2006-08. While Lipari does not have experience in the league, his older brother Tom won Northwoods League championships with the St. Cloud River Bats as a player (2000) and a coach (2007).
"We were lucky to land Dan for the 2010 season," team owner/general manager Joel Sutherland said. "He has an impressive coaching resume given his age, and his experience both as a player and as a coach will compliment coach Levendoski well."
