Warriors split in conference tournament

Brainerd defeated Milaca 264-123, 196-116 and 201-103 in the Central Minnesota Conference Tournament Saturday at Granite Bowl South in St. Cloud.

The Warriors were led by Captain Samantha Holmes, Alex Heldt, Robert Stange and Derek Maier with 100-, 100-, 83.3- and 80-percent fills.

Sartell defeated Brainerd 212-181, 186-172, 209-137. Sartell went on to defeat St. Cloud Tech to earn a trip to the state tournament Dec. 5 at Echo Lanes in Austin.

Maier and Holmes led Brainerd against Sartell with 100- and 83.3-percent fills.

Brainerd bowls in the Minnesota Qualifying Tournament Saturday at New Hope Bowl. Twenty teams will compete in the tournament with the top two advancing to the state tournament Dec. 5.

Will Bassett was named the most valuable bowler. Derek Maier was an all-conference selection. Kayla Cartwright and Alex Heldt earned all honors.

The Brainerd Blue junior varsity team won the conference tournament Saturday at Granite Bowl South and advanced to the JV state tournament Dec. 6 at Apple Place in Apple Valley.

The Brainerd Silver JV team placed second and earned a trip to the JV Minnesota Qualifying Tournament at AMF Southtown Bowl in Bloomington Saturday.
