DALLAS, Ga. - William A. Gronquist, 83, Dallas, Ga., formerly of Brainerd, passed away Nov. 8, 2008.
Bill was born in Brainerd in 1925 to Albin and Gladys Gronquist. He attended Brainerd schools, graduating with the Washington High School class of 1944. He attended Brainerd Junior College.
He was a lifetime member of Aurora Masonic Lodge in Brainerd and the American Legion.
Bill served in WWII and Korean War, retiring after 20 years at master sergeant. After retiring from his military service, he started a new career in law enforcement. He was a member of the Palm Beach Florida Police Force and Sheriff's Department. Upon his retirement in 1989, Bill and his wife moved to Dallas, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret O'Brien.
Survived by beloved wife, Carolyn, of 52 years; sisters, Carol Brahms, Burnsville, and Esther (Alan) MacArthur, Brainerd; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held Nov. 21, 2008, at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga.
