This year's incarnation of the "Geritol Frolics" variety show enters its second week with performances at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Franklin Junior High School auditorium in Brainerd. Tickets are $10 (adults) and $8 (students and seniors 60 and older).
Quite the choirs
Central Lakes College's Cantare Women's Ensemble and Chamber Singers team up under the direction of Michelle Sakry-Winkelman to present Falling for Music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at CLC's Chalberg Theatre in Brainerd. Admission is free.
"Once Upon a Mattress," based on the "Princess and the Pea" fairy tale, completes its Pequot Lakes Community Theatre run at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pequot Lakes School Auditorium. Tickets are $11 (adults), $10 (age 60 and older) and $9 (age 17 and under), with a $1 discount if purchased in advance.
For the 21st straight year, the Stroia Ballet Co. of central Minnesota presents the beloved ballet "The Nutcracker." The show begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School, in Brainerd. Tickets are $10 (public) and $7 (ages 12 and younger).
If Saturday's packed house was any indication, Brainerd lakes area residents have discovered the appeal of live comedy at the Rail. Midwest touring comedian Mike Merryfield hopes to keep the streak going with shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the lower level of the downtown Brainerd club. Tickets are $10, or $5 with a ticket stub from a previous show.
