Brainerd residents can rest assured that our airport is not only one of the most modern in the country, but also is designed to be the safest. It is an excellent facility where very high standards have been raised even higher.

30 years ago (1973)

Designing a Brainerd city flag is the current project being undertaken by the BHS Art Club. Seniors Janice Peterson and Bill Ribbel were crowned Queen and King. Seniors earned the right to name the royal couple by raising $496.78.

40 years ago (1963)

Prime rib of beef served with the vogue special hors d'oeuvres tray only $2.95. Downstairs Freddy Kaye at the piano -The Vogue Cafe.

60 years ago (1943)

The first deer brought into Brainerd today, opening date, was shot by Louis Hansen, 318 1/2 North Seventh Street. Hansen got his deer, a 2-year-old doe at 8 o'clock this morning.

80 years ago (1923)

An inexpensive suite to brighten up the dining room -Buffet 42", table 45", 6 chairs with wood seats, complete suite - $49.50. Fitzsimmens & Sons.

100 years ago (1903)

The street improvements of the past year were a step in the right directions, but the work should continue until every street in the city is macadamized, doing every year a dozen blocks or so.
