Designing a Brainerd city flag is the current project being undertaken by the BHS Art Club. Seniors Janice Peterson and Bill Ribbel were crowned Queen and King. Seniors earned the right to name the royal couple by raising $496.78.

60 years ago (1943)
The first deer brought into Brainerd today, opening date, was shot by Louis Hansen, 318 1/2 North Seventh Street. Hansen got his deer, a 2-year-old doe at 8 o'clock this morning.
80 years ago (1923)

100 years ago (1903)
The street improvements of the past year were a step in the right directions, but the work should continue until every street in the city is macadamized, doing every year a dozen blocks or so.
