'Give to the Max' is Tuesday

Posted: Tuesday, November 17, 2009

GiveMN.org - a Web site for nonprofits in Minnesota - is working to change the way Minnesotans experience giving and help create a stronger nonprofit community for Minnesota.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, donations made to through the Web site GiveMN Web site will be matched as part of "Give to the Max Day," a giving stimulus plan created to increase giving to nonprofits across Minnesota. The program ends Nov. 18 at 8 a.m.

The Saint Paul Foundation, Minneapolis Foundation and Bush Foundation have committed $500,000 in matching contributions to support community needs in Minnesota and to cover transaction fees so that 100 percent of all donations go to the nonprofit organizations.

GiveMN allows donors to find and support organizations that match their philanthropic goals and easily keep track of their donations in a single online location. GiveMN is the first giving-site focused specifically on nonprofits in a single state, but donors can also access all registered United States 501(c)3 organizations.

Local nonprofit organizations that hope to benefit from "Give to the Max Day" include Confidence Learning Center, Interfaith Caregivers, Salvation Army and United Way, as announced in recent news releases.
