What brought you to Excelsior Place: "I came here in April from Arizona after I fell and broke my hip. My son, Danny, lives here and he wanted me here. I'm a Minnesota native.
"Before I moved my daughter and daughter-in-law bought me some clothes for the winter. In Arizona you see snow but only in the mountains. The first snowfall here I didn't get to see the snow fall, but since then I have."
Motto you live by: "I live one day at a time."

What keeps you busy: "I make 'cross in the pocket' and cross markers (which are made out of plastic and yarn). I started making them after my daughter bought me one. I'm not a crafter, but I thought they were neat. I've made hundreds of them and sold a lot. I like them because of the saying that is in the pocket with the cross (that includes,) 'I am a Christian no matter where I may be.'"
Family: Five children, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. They all live in Minnesota, Arizona and Washington.
What do you read: "I like mysteries and I like to read Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts."
Favorite flower: "A rose. My son from Washington sends me roses. When I get them I give one to the cook here to keep her on my good side."
When did you start working: "I've been out on my own since I was 13. My folks needed help during the depression so I got a job helping a lady with housework. Most my life I worked at a lot at taverns and restaurants as a waitress."
A food you hate: Fish.
