A 36-year-old Pequot Lakes woman has been missing since Nov. 7, but police do not suspect foul play at this time, Pequot Lakes Police Chief Jerry Braam said Sunday.
Melissa Headlee was last seen leaving her job nine days ago. Police have been tracking Headlee by cash card usage that has showed that she has been in several cities in Minnesota and North Dakota. Braam said Headlee did not have any family in the cities she visited, including Duluth, Bemidji and Springfield.
Braam said Headlee has a cell phone, but she has not answered any calls from her family or police. Braam said Headlee's family is concerned for her safety and they told police that "it is very uncharacteristic of her to leave like this." The family told police that Headlee has had some mental issues and has a history of depression.
UPDATE: Missing woman found
The 36-year-old Pequot Lakes woman who has been missing since Nov. 7 was found Saturday night in the Twin Cities, the Pequot Lakes Police Department reported on Monday.
Melissa Headlee was last seen leaving her job nine days ago. Police had been tracking Headlee through cash card usage in several cities in Minnesota and North Dakota.
"We get a lot of these calls of missing persons where the people don't want to be home," said Braam. "We first took this case as (if) she wanted to be left alone, but now we don't know what to make of it."
As of Sunday, the police have not listed Headlee as a missing person, but that could change Monday. Braam said Headlee's cash card was denied in Delano and Royalton Thursday night, so since she ran out of money it may make her contact her family. If she doesn't, it'll make police more suspicious, said Braam.
Headlee is not married and she has two children, who are being taken care of by her mother.
She is described as 5-6, 135 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. She is driving a tan, four-door Chevy Lumina with license plate number NTW 770. People who come in contact with Headlee or her vehicle are asked to call 911 or the Pequot Lakes Police Department at (218) 568-8111.
