The Stroia Ballet Company will present its 22nd annual production of "The Nutcracker" at 7 p.m. Friday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Educational Services Building, in Brainerd.
Tickets are $7-$10.
"The Nutcracker" gives children and adults a chance to dream as the Silberhaus family completes final preparations for its annual holiday party. Young Clara soon falls asleep and travels to magic lands of swirling snowflakes, an enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy, a ferocious Mouse Queen and a valiant Nutcracker Prince.

For artistic director Carlos Stroia, who also performs in the ballet, the challenge of "The Nutcracker" is to make something new each year from a show that debuted 113 years ago in Russia. This classic family ballet was written by E.T.A. Hoffman with music by Peter Tchaikovsky.
