20 years ago (1984)

The state of Minnesota delivered some bad news to taxpayers in Brainerd, Emily and area townships in the form of a "blanket increase" in the market value of homes, cabins or business property.

30 years ago (1974)

Employment in Brainerd took a sharp drop -- a total of 131 -- during October. This is the third loss in as many months as the employment tempo of the summer slacks off with the approach of winter.

40 years ago (1964)

Brainerd Elks Lodge 615 will initiate a class of 50 new members on Thursday, Nov. 19. Exalted Ruler Barney Holtkamp and the officers will conduct the ritual of initiation.

60 years ago (1944)

The Sixth War Loan Campaign in Crow Wing County will get under way at noon Monday with a luncheon at the Ransford Hotel.

80 years ago (1924)

The members of the Buckeye Club returned from their hunting camp bringing home six deer. The hunters included Dr. A.K. Cohen, Arthur Johnson, R. J. Reis, A.M. Opsahl, S.E. Engbretson and Gustav Halverson.

100 years ago (1904)
