Pearson's 22 not enough for Raiders

COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

MADISON, Wis. - Cassie Pearson scored 22 points to lead the Central Lakes College Raiders in a 71-54 loss to Gogebic, Mich., in the MATC Border Battle Basketball Classic Saturday.

Carissa Utsch and Alicia Johnson each had nine points for the Raiders.

"It was a learning experience," Raiders coach Dennis Eastman said. "Cassie played well. Carlee Davich had 12 rebounds. We're taking slow steps but we're getting there. It's a long road."

CLC has played its first three games without sophomore Steph Neugebauer, one of their top returning players. Neugebauer is suffering from a knee injury.

"She's been at the games, cheering us on," Eastman said, "but you can definitely see she wants to get out there and play. We'll just have to wait and see."
