More than 700 AmeriCorps members in Minnesota took a pledge of service Thursday, kicking off their yearlong commitment to making Minnesota communities cleaner, safer and healthier places to live.
Since its inception in 1994, more than 250,000 people have served in AmeriCorps. In Minnesota, AmeriCorps members work with children by serving as tutors, mentors, teachers and coaches.
Brainerd area AmeriCorps members are Sylvester Jenkins Jr., Sarah Steinfeldt, Jessie Sanoski, Jen DuBay, Jenny Crimmins, Jenna Stawarski, Ben Miller and Lane Marana.
