Political cartoonists see the lingering confusion over the presidential election as good for business. "I've been on this like a rat on a Cheeto," said Steve Kelley of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Although he describes himself as "right of center," whoever wins will consistently be grist for his profession. "Each of these guys has a great big 'Kick Me' sign on his back."
Jack Ohman, Portland Oregonian cartoonist, said uncertainty about the election and the resulting brouhaha is "absolutely a bonanza" for cartoonists. "I think we perform a valuable function in a situation like this. We help people blow off a little steam. I think it helps to kind of defuse the tension when you can make people laugh about it."
