To blame the past performance of the school district business manager on a failed referendum is insane. Someone is in need of some serious reality therapy to think that way, especially the previous administration. Who got us into this mess to begin with?
Staff is doing its best
Baxter School (employees are) doing the best they can with kids being picked up in the back lot. It's a lot of work for the staff that stands out there with your children, too. A lot of you choose to just simply pick up your kids for the sake of not riding a bus. If that is the case, bare with it. The staff is doing (its) best to accommodate you. Bundle your kids. Give them the appropriate attire for the constantly changing Minnesota weather. I've heard parents making comments to the staff that are very negative and just not needed.
Be glad you don't live near there
To the people complaining about Baxter School: You should try living along Maplewood Road. I'm glad they moved the pick-up area to the back of the school. Before this year, I've sat in traffic for a half-hour trying to get to my driveway. I've had my mailbox hit, sprinklers run over, people using my driveway to park/turn around, being late to work because I couldn't get out of my driveway or during programs blocking my driveway entirely, litter in my yard, not to mention the hazard if an emergency vehicle needed to get through.
Which lane is the 'right' lane?
To the person who wrote in about slower traffic should move to the left lane so that the faster cars can pass in the right lane, that's the problem! Slower traffic is to stay in the right lane, with the left lane for passing only. I do agree, that where possible, a person should move to the left lane to allow traffic to pull out into the roadway.
People picking up people at Forestview
Look in your rearview mirrors. I am so ready to honk at you. You are holding up the line. If your child isn't waiting outside when you get there, or if you typically have to wait longer than a minute for him or her, park in the parking lot and wait there, not in the circle. At least give us people behind you the courtesy of moving around to the left side of the circle, so you're not clogging up the entrance.
It's the speeders
I'm calling about the people who drive too slow between Crosby and Brainerd. I drive 57 and I never pass anybody. It's the speeders that pass on double lines and around corners - that's what's causing the trouble - not those driving 55.
(Editor's note: The Vox Pop Department of Transportation thinks there's a lot of drivers education needed for our highways - and the Baxter School parking lot. Chill pills might help, too.
