Local brief

The Brainerd Rotary Foundation announces the following first and second quarter grant awards: Boy Scouts, to support youth campers; Brainerd Community Action, to support the Fourth of July celebration and the Christmas parade; PORT Group Homes, for books; Lakeland Public Television, to support children's programming; Kids Voting Program; Timber Bay, to support programs; Kinship Partners, to support programs; Brainerd Daily Dispatch/Riverside Elementary School, for a newspaper program; and Brainerd School District, to support a student leadership program.

The mission of the Brainerd Rotary Foundation is to assist in providing financial support for activities designed to offer personal and educational opportunities for area youth. The foundation board meets quarterly in January, April, July and October to review requests. The funding year is from July 1 through June 30 of each year. To request an application, write to P.O.
