MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota signed forward Stanley Gaines and center Aliou Kane on Wednesday -- adding some extra size to their frontcourt.
Gaines, who is 6-foot-7, 230-pounds, averaged 19.2 points and 10.3 rebounds as a junior at Providence St. Mel High School in Chicago. He was voted All-State each of the past three years and was an honorable mention All-America selection in 2001.

Schonrock, 5-foot-6, is a senior at Blue Earth Area High School and ranked No. 37 among the top 100 seniors by the Women's Basketball Journal.
Bolden, a 5-foot-11 center from Marshall High School, was named the Associated Press Co-Player of the Year for Minnesota Class AA. The first-team, All-State player averaged 21 points and eight rebounds a game as a junior. She earned AAU All-American honors over the summer.
Collison, who is 6-foot-2, averaged 14 points and 10.5 rebounds as last season for Eden Prairie High School.
