MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- With at least two newcomers to be added to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents next year and the application deadline just over two weeks away, only two or three people have applied for seats on the board.
Five seats are open, and three sitting regents are seeking reappointment. The vacant seats had been filled by student representative Jessica Phillips, who has graduated, and at-large representative William Peterson of Eagan, who died last month.
Applications close Dec. 1.
Regents, who are not paid and average at least 40 hours per month on board business, set policy for the university.
