W-DC stays alive with sweep of NL-S

ST. PAUL - Courtney Volkmann recorded 26 set assists and Kelsi Crawford provided 13 kills as the 10th-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines defeated the ninth-ranked New London-Spicer Wildcats in the consolation semifinals of the Class 2A state tournament Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.

Volkmann also added nine digs and three kills, while Brittney Noon tacked on 12 kills, nine digs and a block for WDC.

Other team highs included Rachel Craig's six blocks and Hope Theisen's 15 digs.
