Justin Banks benefit

A benefit for Justin Banks, who was diagnosed with leukemia in June, is planned for noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Brainerd Armory. Donation for adults at the door will be $5; kids will eat for free. The Montana Sky Band will perform. There will be silent auction items as well as a live auction with a chance at an NBA All-Star ticket package which includes VIP red carpet treatment in Dallas, airfare, hotel and more. All proceeds from this event will go to the Justin Banks Benefit Fund.

Benefit dinner for the Bolei family

There will be a benefit dinner from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 21 in the basement at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa for Linda Bolei, a member of St. Christopher's Church, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 oligoastrocytoma (brain cancer). Bolei is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Because of the location and type of cancer, she is no longer able to work. And, due to the economy, her husband was recently laid off from work. They have two young children and need the support. Consider a $5 per plate donation.

Disabled American Veterans

The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 and Auxiliary will be Thursday at the Brainerd VFW club. Chapter officers will meet at 6 p.m. and the members meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Brainerd American Legion events

The Brainerd American Legion Post meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday.

The Auxiliary will host a teachers' tea from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Chicken dinner will be served by Angie Fox on Thursday. Cost is $8.

The 81st annual duck feed will be 6:45 p.m. Nov. 21. Cost is $10. RSVP to 829-2249 by Monday. A Remington Express 870 Wood 12-gauge shotgun will be raffled off during the duck feed.

Crow Wing County Genealogical Society

Crow Wing County Genealogical Society will meet for social hour at 6 p.m. with a meeting and election of officers at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd. Encore Arts Association

Encore Arts Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, 803 Kingwood, Brainerd. Lakes Area Caged Bird Club

Lake Hubert Community Grange Thanksgiving supper

LAKE HUBERT - The Lake Hubert Community Grange will have a Thanksgiving supper at 5 p.m. Nov. 22. The supper is potluck but the Grange will provide the turkey. Any questions, call Ada at 829-5055.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser

The Brainerd Wrestling Club season will kick off with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Brainerd American Legion, 708 Front St., Brainerd. Cost for adults is $5; students are $3; and children 4 and under are free.

The fundraiser will help offset the cost to all wrestlers in the junior and senior high programs.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by the Hornets; and Friday at Deerwood with music by Jerry B.

Kiwanis spaghetti dinner fundraiser

The Kiwanis spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Central Lakes College cafeteria. Cost for adults is $7; $3.50 for children under 12. The proceeds will benefit children in our community. Tickets are available from Brainerd Kiwanis members, the Brainerd Dispatch, Insty-Prints or at the door.

Sons of Norway

Sons of Norway will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Program: Business meeting and DVD presentation on Ray and Carolyn Frisch and their recent trip to Egypt.

VFW Friday dinner

A ham dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Friday at the Brainerd VFW. Cost: $7.

BNSF Jack and Jill's

The BNSF Jack and Jill's will have holiday bingo for all paid up members and guests at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion.

Ray's Promenaders

Ray's Promenaders will dance Friday at the Franklin Art Center cafeteria. Caller will be JimJirak. Plus begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by mainstream at 8 p.m.

Bob Norma Hall will host the pie night lunch that follows the dance.

Lessons continue at 7 p.m. Monday evenings in the cafeteria taught by Phil Miller.

NARFE to meet

The Brainerd Chapter No. 738 National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet for social hour at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Countryside Cafe, Motley. Meeting: Referendum vote and 2010 voting.
