An old Mercury name, Monterey, is coming back on a new vehicle, but it's a minivan, not a car. It'll replace the Villager, and Ford Motor Co. unveiled it recently.
Mechanically similar to the next-generation Ford Windstar, the Monterey will go on sale about a year from now as a 2004 model. It'll be luxuriously equipped and will have side-curtain airbags for all three seating rows, front and rear object-sensing systems, an advanced tire-pressure monitoring system, heated and cooled front seats and a third seat that can be folded into the floor.
