GUEST COLUMN: The challenge for education
On behalf of our administration, our teachers and our students, I want to thank our community at large for the support we received in recent weeks. As you know, the referendum request generated extensive dialogue from all ages and sectors of the Brainerd lakes area. Voters spoke in record numbers; nearly 2 to 1.
The first thing my fifth-grade son said this morning, (Wednesday) "Did they vote yes?" When I answered his question with a no, he pulled the covers over his head and said he had a stomachache.

In today's world it seems that we as people are quick to criticize other people. Especially when they are in positions of leadership in our lives. This would include our president, Congress, state governor, state legislator, county sheriff, mayor, school board, etc. I think that we are quick to judge without always understanding the entire situation.
