A watercolor demonstration by artist Kathy Kovala is the scheduled program for the monthly meeting of Encore Arts Association 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Citizens Center, 803 Kingwood St. in Brainerd.

The Brainerd Chapter No. 738 National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet for lunch and a meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at TMaxwell's in Staples.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be 1 p.m. Monday at the McGregor Legion with music by Mary Proctor; 7 p.m Tuesday at the Brainerd Moose Club with music by Virginia and John Shogren; 1 p.m. Wednesday in Onamia with music by Krekelberg; and 1 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by Helen and Don.

Chapter DV, P.E.O.

Chapter DV, P.E.O. will meet 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of LaVonne Neff with Lisa Lake Moores assisting. Program: Jean Carey.

Moose Lodge activities

Birthday dinner will be Tuesday with meatloaf and baked potato on the menu. Burger night is 5 p.m. Thursday. The Women of the Moose will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Aitkin murder mystery

Join the Aitkin Women of Today for a romp through the '70s with zany D.J. Wolf Guy Jake.

The dinner and performances will be 7 p.m. Nov. 19-20 in the Moose Club Room, Aitkin.

Tickets are $25 per person or $160 for a table of eight.

Education Week

In observance of American Education Week Nov. 14-20, the Brainerd American Legion Auxiliary will host a Teacher's Tea to honor area educators from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion Post, 708 Front St., Brainerd.

Area teachers, school staff, cafeteria workers, teachers' aides and other education support professionals who positively impact our school communities are invited to attend.

Woodland Good Samaritan Auxiliary

The Woodland Good Samaritan Auxiliary will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the 100 Bldg. at Woodland.

Ray's Promenaders

Dance with Ray's Promenaders 7:30 p.m. Friday at Baxter Elementary School. Plus Tips begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by Mainstream at 8 p.m. Phil Miller will be the caller. Karen and Elroy Raddatz will host the pie social after the dance. All dancers are welcome to attend.

Genealogy Society

The Crow Wing County Genealogy Society will meet 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (corner of Highway 210 and 25 East at 418 N.E. Eighth Ave.). The program is, "Breaking Down Brick Walls," by Lucille Kirkeby. The public is invited. For more information call 828-9178 or 825-7825.

Arts and crafts sale

Nisswa Women's Club

The Nisswa Women's Club will meet at noon Thursday at Cragun's Lakeview Dining Room. Hostesses will be Collette Wagner and Dolly Zitur, chairs, Loretta Adams, Diane Collins, Bunny Ferrell and Joyce Seplee. Karl Nordby of Nature's Touch will present a program on holiday decorating. Bring a donation for the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center.

Moose Lodge Thanksgiving dinner

The Brainerd Moose Lodge will have its annual Thanksgiving Dinner 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 27. Home meal deliveries and rides to and from dinner will be available.

Area churches donate pies for the meal and anyone who would like to donate a pie can drop it off at the lodge Nov. 26. To arrange meal delivery or to help volunteer, call 829-4841. Reservations are requested by Nov. 22, but no one will be turned away. There is no charge for the meal. The Moose Lodge is at 219 S. Ninth St., Brainerd.

Defensive driving course offered

Nutrition Services will host a four-hour defensive driving course at 1 p.m. Friday. Cost is $10 per person. Call 825-9411 or 824-6500 to register; space is limited. Nutrition Services is at the corner of North 10th Street and Washington.

Sons of Norway

Sons of Norway, Sagatun Lodge, will hold its social meeting at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. There will not be a 6 p.m video. The Market Place gathering is open to the public. American Legion Auxiliary Luncheon

American Legion Auxiliary Luncheon will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The menu is vegetable beef soup, ham salad and egg salad sandwiches, and bars. Cost is $4, take-outs are welcome. Call 829-2249.

Disabled Vets

Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion. There will be two guest speakers, Richard Butter, 4th junior vice commander, and his wife, who is senior vice commander of the Auxiliary.

Crosslake Garden Club

The Crosslake Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crosslake Community Center. Candy Barthel will speak on ornamental grasses.

BNSF Jacks and Jills

BNSF Jacks and Jills will hold Thanksgiving Bingo games for members and their guests at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion Club.

Class of 1949

The Class of 1949 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Northwind Grille.
