20 years ago (1984)

ASCALON Commandery 16, a Masonic York Rite Body, will commemorate the receiving of its charter Saturday at the Brainerd Masonic Temple. The charter was received in 1884 from the Grand Commandery of Minnesota.

30 years ago (1974)

Alvina Nelson, dress department manager at S&L Store, Brainerd, and Steve Campbell, store manager, received color television sets as first-place winners in a recent company-wide dress sale contest. Contestants were judged on sales, customer courtesy and satisfaction.

40 years ago (1964)

A junior-senior high school age wrestling program has been added to the 185 individual programs now functioning at the Brainerd YMCA.

60 years ago (1944)

Bill Kaths, a top-flight bowler for over 20 years finally realized the dream of every bowler, and for the first time in bowling history in Brainerd, rolled a perfect 300 game at the Lake Region alleys.

80 years ago (1924)

100 years ago (1904)

The cuss who is mean enough to carry off a storm window seems about small enough to be compelled to stand on a half bushel measure if he wanted to look over the shoulders of a grasshopper. It behooves everyone to have their windows put on and padlocked.
