A Woodland Bank is being constructed along Highway 371 in Jenkins. The groundbreaking ceremony last Monday came just days after a similar event for the Sunset Cinemas in Jenkins. Both projects are with Nor-son Construction. With all the recent activity, Jenkins may become to Pequot Lakes what Baxter is to Brainerd.
The 4,100 square-foot bank is expected to open in June.
The design followed the northwoods theme that arises so often in area construction. But bank designers did not want to follow the traditional log cabin look alone. The exterior features stone detailing and what is described as a prominent clerestory window, an upper portion of a wall with windows that supply natural light to the lobby.
The bank, designed by Vanman Architects and Builders Inc., a firm based out of Golden Valley, has four offices, a conference room, a break room and large lobby/teller area with fireplace and sitting area, according to a news release.
Woodland Bank is based out of Remer with other branches in Longville, Cohasset and Hill City.
