20 years ago (1983)

The Crow Wing County Board set a total levy of $6,098,096 for 1984 for county revenue, welfare and road and bridge departments, ear marking $100,000 to come from federal revenue sharing funds.

30 years ago (1973)

A unique service reception area is the key feature of the Imgrund Auto, Inc. building located on Washington Street in west Brainerd. John Imgrund described the 10,000 square foot building as an "efficiency type" model.

40 years ago (1963)

Employment in Brainerd decreased 55 during the past month, but still stands 355 over October of a year ago. The total number of persons employed during October of this year was 5,056.

60 years ago (1943)

Employees of the Montgomery Ward store and families were entertained at a 9 o'clock chicken dinner Saturday evening at the Hoffmann House. Covers were laid for about 50 at the dinner table.

80 years ago (1923)

"Johnny, you've been fighting again and lost all your teeth."

"Naw, I got 'em all in my pocket."

100 years ago (1903)

Mr. Sam Anderson, our local "School Ma'am," is now on the fourth week of his fall term and is giving general satisfaction, something that has never occurred in this district before.
