STAPLES -- Mary Vollegraaf, 95, Staples, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Greater Staples Care Center.
She was born July 12, 1907, in St. Paul to Robert and Katherine Prodzinski. She attended St. Adelbert's Catholic School in St. Paul through eighth grade. She began working at Griggs and Cooper Confectioners. She married Arie Vollegraaf in August 1940 in St. Paul. She was active in the St. Paul Carnival, Twin City Holland Club and the Festival of Nations. She returned to the workforce in 1962 in the St. Paul Athletic Club cafeteria. She moved to the Mary Rondorf Home in Staples in 1994 and to the Staples Care Center in 1999.
Survivors include a son, James Vollegraaf, Staples; four daughters, Marie Holmes, Sebring, Fla., Nellie Prow and Johana Tanguary, both of Holiday, Fla., and Ina Fetzek, Grasston; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Wistercil, St. Paul.
Her husband, two brothers and six sisters died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Peter Kirschner officiating.
A family gathering will be an hour before services Thursday.
