HILL CITY -- Edna L. Flynn, 88, Hill City, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Brainerd.
She was born May 1, 1914, in Parnell Township near Graceville to Selma (Hanson) and Russell Brown. She graduated from Graceville High School and later attended business school for a year before moving to Grand Rapids where she worked in the medical clinic for Dr. M.J. McKenna. She married Clarence W. Flynn on March 5, 1943. They moved to Hill City in 1946 where they ran Flynn's Sundries for 33 years until the store was destroyed by fire in 1979. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hill City where she was active in the Council of Catholic Women.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Flynn, Chaska, and Mike Flynn, Elk River; two daughters, Barb McColgan, Brainerd, and Kathy Flynn, Cannon Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Zibell, Wheaton; and a brother, Ervine Brown, Wheaton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hill City with the Rev. Edward Buczynski officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday with a wake prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.
