CROSSLAKE -- Authorities are investigating a robbery here late Monday in which the victim was duct-taped to a chair as suspects made off with guns and money.
Dick Ross, Crow Wing County sheriff, said his office received a call about 10:50 p.m. from Doug Page, who lives on Big Trout Lake just north of Crosslake.
Page told investigators that at least two men, wearing dark clothing and ski masks, were at his residence. One suspect was in the yard, Ross said, and after Page yelled him, the second suspect entered the residence and tussled with Page.
After having Page open his safe, the suspects duct-taped him to a chair, added Ross. The suspects then drove away. It was unknown what kind of vehicle they were driving.
The suspects made off with three guns -- two shotguns and a .22-caliber rifle -- and an undetermined amount of cash.
Page, who was at home alone at the time of the robbery, was able to free himself from the duct-tape and call the sheriff's department.
Page made no mention of any weapons used in the robbery.
"It sounds like a strong-arm robbery," said Ross.
No arrests have been made. The incident is still under investigation.
